Bleedin' Guts Mikey This record has recently entered my Thrash Metal album top ten list. It convincingly captures the 80s Thrash sound without turning into a band that simply just worships and regurgitates the riffs of the greats from that era with just a shiny new coat of paint.
That being said, Parkcrest does sound like they put Darkness Descends, Forbidden Evil, Raging Steel, but still manage to be original despite their influences. A modern unsung thrashterpiece that deserves way more exposure! Favorite track: Impossible to Hide.

This is my favorite album by Mexican death metal stalwarts The Chasm, by a wide margin. All the meandering, proggy excursions of previous releases have been brutally curtailed in favor of mountains on mountains of riffs, and the result is a release that is tighter and more focused than any of their output in the last decade+. Quite possibly the best thrash metal album since the early 90s. Sounds like it could be a lost classic from 87-90, but it’s not a paint-by-numbers retro exercise, either. Vicious riffs and killer lead work (check out the Maiden-esque harmonies on “Spiral of Hatred” and ""Onset"). Love that snare sound, too. Juan Valdeath
